Student-Led Seminars

One of the Department of Chemistry’s most unique features is its roster of student lead seminar series. Each series is run by a panel of graduate students, and they give both graduate students and postdocs multiple opportunities throughout their tenure at Columbia to publicly present their own original research as well as other topics of interest to them. They are a forum for young researchers to fine-tune their public speaking skills, learn about research from other groups in- and outside of the department, and invite outside speakers to present.

Friday Synthesis Symposium

A year-round seminar series that allows graduate students, postdocs, and outside researchers in synthetic organic, inorganic, and materials chemistry a chance to present on their original research.

PChem Seminar

A seminar series that allows graduate students, postdocs, and outside researchers in experimental and theoretical physical chemistry a chance to present on their original research throughout the academic year.

Synthesis Literacy Group

A journal-club style seminar series that meets during the summer and discusses topics related to organic synthesis.
