On the Collective Behaviors of Oligomers: Implications for Self-Assembled Monolayers and Copolymer Sequences

Presented by Prof. Kateri H. DuBay, University of Virginia

Abstract:
Research in the DuBay Group uses numerical simulations to study the self-assembly of soft, nano-scale materials. We are particularly interested in the interplay between self-organization and environmental complexities, such as constraining geometries, time-dependent potentials, and ongoing chemical reactions. In this talk, I will describe our investigations into the self-assembly of mixed ligand monolayers on the surfaces of faceted nanoparticles and the emergent self-organization of nascent oligomers during step-growth copolymerizations.
